“The directors I admire most came from somewhere else first.”
Robert Sweeting is a director and the founder of Creative Destruction Films, based in New York.
He came to filmmaking through brand strategy — a decade spent inside some of the most demanding content operations in financial services, where he learned that the difference between a story that moves people and one that doesn’t has nothing to do with budget. It has everything to do with point of view.
His debut short, The Entertainer, stars Tony Award winner André De Shields and is currently in distribution. It was produced with Tony Award–winning producers behind the Broadway run of Hadestown.
His debut feature, “Guns Down”, is a dramatic thriller in development — a story about institutional failure, justice, and one man’s collision with the system that made him.
Sweeting is drawn to characters who exist in the space between who they were supposed to be and who they became. His work sits at the intersection of prestige narrative filmmaking and culturally resonant storytelling.
